I'm officially in portrait mode. Much to my surprise I'm using my computer to help with the compositions. I've never been a huge fan of Illustrator or Photoshop aside from the random photo retouching or filters. I certainly didn't want to spend $1000 on it or steal it so I found a great alternative. Gimp is a free open-source image manipulation program. Basically photoshop. There's a bit of a learning curve and at first it frustrated me but now that I have a grip on where everything is, it's lovely. I know some people like to sketch out ideas on paper but for me I really love the "undo" function of a computer... These are a few of the quick studies I did to see if I want to bother moving forward to painting them. And I do.
The top two are of my beautiful sister-in-law Brittany. The last one is of the blogger Rachel Whitehurst. I'm pretty sure I'm going to move forward on all three of these and I can't wait to start painting!
If you would let me use your selfie, let me know! I'm having a lot of fun with these!
