This week I finished two books. First I listened to the audio version of Yes, Please! by Amy Poehler. She narrates it herself and there are a few other famous voices thrown in the mix. She talks about her time on SNL and personal anecdotes. I would recommend this only as an audio book. The physical book would be great for the photos but I think it would be a weird format to read. She tells stories in a non-linear way that feels like a friend talking. As a written book it might be a bit all over the place. It was a wonderful way to spend 7 hours in my studio! The second book that I read was a short story, The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami. This is the first book I've read by Haruki Murakami and I can't say it wasn't bizarre. He's written many books and I didn't know where to start so I went for one that was only 96 pages. Just to get my feet wet. It was a captivating tale about a boy and a very strange library. It's creepy, dark and mesmerizing. As you can see I read it on my Kindle and I know that diminished my experience. This is a book that needs to be felt and seen in color. There are many illustrations that don't show their beauty on my black and white Kindle screen. It's a book that I want to own and read again.
What have you been reading lately? If you have any recommendations please let me know!
Happy reading! xx
