Today was a wonderful day. I had the most delicious lunch at a new Indian restaurant in my neighborhood. Like so good. Have you ever had an Onion Bhaji? Find one and eat it. Soon. When I got into my studio I just started putzing around. Working on journal pages (pics to come as I didn't finish anything) and this little flower painting.Of course I'm never alone in my room because little Mardi loves to keep me company. He does have his own bed in my studio but he's almost always in his little kangaroo pouch, on my lap. Sometimes it feels nice to just doodle flowers.
I'm working on preparatory sketches for some larger pieces but at this point I'm split down the middle. Part of me wants to go full-blown abstraction with color play and composition, and the other half wants more precision. Landscape, still life, portraiture. Decisions, decisions, indecision. I'll figure it out eventually. Most likely I will paint all three...
Last night I did a thing! I watched American Horror Story Freak Show. When I was in high school I loved scary things but now, I have a hard enough time sleeping as it is, so adding more things to keep me up at night is not ideal. But I've heard so many great things about AHS that I was curious. Brandon put it on and I watched most of it through my hands. Clowns scare me more than most things. ***E.g. I don't like being in the same room with clown dolls or porcelain dolls for that matter.*** Basically I'm a baby when it comes to anything scary. The clown on that show is absolutely HORRIFYING.
We watched the whole thing though and I'm impressed. I loved the cinematography and set design. It's quite beautiful to watch however scared you may be.
Happy arting! xx
