I have a few older pieces in my studio collecting dust. Paintings I've started and stopped, but never finished. I wrote about a different one that I added to here.
This diptych was an experiment that fell flat and I just got stuck. It's been in the back of my closet for two years. I thought it the perfect opportunity to change my palette on a piece already in progress. My original palette was a full range and I switched over to the CMYK palette that I mentioned here. I took photos as I went. You can click the images below to enlarge them.
I really love the transformation. The pictures don't show the depth as well as I'd like. In reality, more of the warmth from the bottom layers shows through... This isn't the final, but I really enjoy working with this palette.
Have you ever changed your palette mid painting? I recommend it if you feel stuck.
