So my mini art hiatus turned into a longer one. Instead of feeling bad about it, I'm just going with it... I finished The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. All 771 pages and well... I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's a book that generates a lot of emotion as you see when you read reviews on Goodreads! It's a book that I thought about when I wasn't reading it, and now that I'm finished I'm still thinking about it.
Donna Tartt writes beautifully and she wrote a lot. Did it need to be 771 pages? Probably not but I didn't find myself skimming. I read every word. Would I recommend it? I don't know. I have never written a book review. This really isn't one, either, but this book got under my skin. I needed to say something about it. If you read the jacket and think it sounds like something you'd like then go for it. That's my advice.
On another note, I started the Harry Potter series for the first time. I know right? Where have I been? I figured it was about time. I'm over halfway through the first one and so far so good. I know from everyone who's read them that they just get better.
I'm still getting the hang of Goodreads. I'm not sure about whether you should try to "friend" people or just follow them. Either way if you're on it, my profile is kenziewoodsart. I'd love to connect and learn how to use it more fully. Oh and I challenged myself to read 15 books in 2014 (I've added the Goodreads widget in my sidebar). I have a feeling I'll end up reading more than that but I didn't want it to be something to stress me out. Reading is meant to be fun and relaxing.
I hope your arting is going a bit better than mine!
